In the mists of time when Vikings still traveled the waters of Scandinavia, the land that now forms Österåker Golfklubb was a strategically important inlet to Uppsala, then an important center of trade.
In the early 1990s Sven Tumba decided to create a high-end golfing facility in this locale. The course has been received enthusiastically and has hosted many major national championships as well as the European Amateur Championships in recent years.
Henrik Stenson Golf Design has been commissioned by the club for a major revamp of the facilities. Our assignment is to create one of the finest golfing facilities in Scandinavia, which will boast two 18-hole golf courses, one 9-hole par 3 course, and a state-of-the-art practice facility including a brand new range and short game areas.
Construction of practice facilities and one of the 18-hole courses will begin in autumn 2016 and is scheduled for completion in 2019. Thereafter, the next 18-hole course will be remodeled.
